Training for Trust

October 17, 2024 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

How do we nurture a culture of trust?

Trust is high on the agenda at the moment.  You may have spotted an article in the Church Times about James Timpson and his business model (See Church Times).  Tom Mumford points out that Timpson noticed two things about successful organisations, “they got two things right: they trusted their people, and they were kind to them.”

Back in July, the General Synod of the Church of England discussed an important paper on “Trust and Trustworthiness”.  This explored the lack of trust common in our ecclesiastical institutions, but also said some interesting things about the nature of trust in theological terms.

The riots in the summer also revealed the dangers of distrust between communities.  In a very timely way, Citizens UK produced a report on the “Weaving Trust” methodology pioneered in Milton Keynes. This methodology was specifically designed to bring communities together through 121 relational meetings…

This session will explore the issues of trust in Church and wider society and the methodologies that could be used to address it.

We will be joined by Steve Tinning from the Baptist Union and JPIT.  He was involved in Weaving Trust events in Essex.

Join us on Thursday for what promises to be an interesting session.
