SUMMARY:Mission as Nutrition
DESCRIPTION:Mission as Nutrition – are some people on the wrong diet?! \nWe talk a lot about feeding people\, literally and spiritually. But suppose we considered Christian evangelism and service as actual nutrition\, – what nutrients are we talking about and what do they do for people? Suppose we thought less about what goes into minds and bodies as food\, but consider what that food does within the mind\, body and spirit? \nWhat if some Christian diets were actually bad for people\, or the equivalent of empty calories\, leading to poor health in churches and congregations? What is really nourishing? And can the principles of a truly relational church help determine a nutritious diet for everyone? \nDr Anne Richards \nNational Public Policy Adviser:\nmodern society\, popular culture\, contemporary spirituality\, apologetics\nFaith and Public Life \nLink to Register and Join

SUMMARY:Training for Trust
DESCRIPTION:How do we nurture a culture of trust? \nTrust is high on the agenda at the moment.  You may have spotted an article in the Church Times about James Timpson and his business model (See Church Times).  Tom Mumford points out that Timpson noticed two things about successful organisations\, “they got two things right: they trusted their people\, and they were kind to them.” \nBack in July\, the General Synod of the Church of England discussed an important paper on “Trust and Trustworthiness”.  This explored the lack of trust common in our ecclesiastical institutions\, but also said some interesting things about the nature of trust in theological terms. \nThe riots in the summer also revealed the dangers of distrust between communities.  In a very timely way\, Citizens UK produced a report on the “Weaving Trust” methodology pioneered in Milton Keynes. This methodology was specifically designed to bring communities together through 121 relational meetings… \nThis session will explore the issues of trust in Church and wider society and the methodologies that could be used to address it. \nWe will be joined by Steve Tinning from the Baptist Union and JPIT.  He was involved in Weaving Trust events in Essex. \nJoin us on Thursday for what promises to be an interesting session. \nDownload the General Synod Paper\nDownload the Citizens UK Report \nClick here to register
